Alaska Marine Lines is a marine transportation company that ships all types of freight to and from Southeast Alaska, Central Alaska, Prince William Sound and the Yukon Territory of Canada. We are part of the Lynden family of companies. Our major customers are mostly retail businesses such as grocery stores. We provide special services to support industries such as fishing, mining and timber.

Alaska Marine Lines services the communities of Juneau, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Sitka, Petersburg, Haines, Skagway, Kake and Prince of Wales Island. The service is year around with twice a week departures from Seattle. Our service to Central Alaska is weekly and services Anchorage, Fairbanks, Whittier, Kenai, Seward, Cordova and other points.  

We are an innovation leader in our industry. We are constantly looking to improve service and efficiency. New types and sizes of equipment are constantly being designed and manufactured to serve our customers better. We have recently introduced the world's first 53’ long by 102" wide by 10’ high ISO- rated dry and refrigerated containers. Our 53' fleet is the largest in Alaska and when combined with our 20', 24', 40', 48' sizes offers our customers the right tool for the job.  

We have introduced many service innovations into the market. Alaska Marine Lines is the only carrier to Southeast Alaska offering twice a week service. Our information systems are state of the art with Internet tracing, document imaging and automatic rate programming that give our customer service representatives the ability to provide our customers quick and efficient information about their shipments over the phone or directly via our web site.   

Our business has a strong seasonal increase each summer. We hire high school graduates and college students in a variety of positions such as customer service assistants, accounting support and hands-on terminal operators to support our employees during this busy season.
